M Carlen Watercolor On Exhibit At Carpinteria Arts Center

Michelle Carlen's "After the Storm" watercolor depicting a sailboat appearing to have just passed through a stormy gray blue sea and light gray and peachy sky. This is part of the Carpinteria Art Center's annual small works show which runs November 8 - January 5, 2020. This show encourages smaller works to gear up for holiday shopping. A formal reception will be held for all 59 featured artist on November 16th in the evening.

A Southern California native, I was born and raised in Pasadena, Calif. I developed my passion for art from my paternal Grandmother. As a child and throughout my teen years, I would travel to Whidbey Island, Washington to visit her and my Grandfather. Grandma was a professional watercolorist on the island for many years becoming very active and involved in the local art association and community.

M Carlen Watercolor On Exhibit At Community Memorial Hospital

The Community Memorial Hospital Ventura in partnership with Buenaventura Art Association's current public art exhibit showcase's Michelle Carlen's "Autumn Leaves" painting. This show runs through January 26, 2020 in the Mountain Tower.

A Southern California native, Michelle Carlen was born and raised in Pasadena, Calif. After spending nearly four decades in Southern California, from San Diego to the Los Angeles area, Carlen moved to the Santa Barbara three years ago, and now resides in Carpinteria.

She developed her passion for art from her grandmother on the paternal side of her family. As a child Carlen would travel to Whidbey Island, Washington, to visit her grandmother, who was a professional watercolorist there. During her childhood years, Carlen’s grandmother taught her much of what she knows about the medium. M Carlen To Be Featured In 9th Annual Buenaventura Art Association Open Watercolor Competition

Michelle Carlen's work will be exhibited with three watercolor paintings featured in the 9th Annual Buenaventura Art Association Open Watercolor Competition. Carlen's three works are all focused on harbor and waterfront scenes from Puget Sound and Coastal California. Awards will be given out during an artist reception held Friday, May 3rd at the Buenaventura Art Association Gallery and Bell Arts Factory located at 432 N. Ventura Blvd. Suite 30, Ventura, CA from 6-9 pm during the First Friday open studios event.

M Carlen Watercolor Featured At Community Memorial Hospital Ventura

Michelle Carlen's work will be part of an exhibit during the Buenaventura Art Association exhibit called 'Scapes' at the Ventura Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura April 28 - July 28, 2019. The theme is outdoor scenery and geographical environments including landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, and skyscapes. Carlen's painting featured is a colorful sunset over Buenaventura Beach.

Community Memorial Hospital is located at: 147 N Brent Street, Ventura, CA Exhibit will be displayed in the lobby.

M Carlen Receives Honorable Mention - San Diego, CA

M Carlen received "Honorable Mention" in the watercolor category for the August monthly members show at the San Dieguito Art Guild's "Off Track Gallery" located in Encinitas, CA. The awarded piece entitled "Enchanted Paris Evening" is one of four paintings in a new collection Carlen has debuted as the "Paris Romance Collection" and features a couple experiencing a romance along the back drop of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The monthly show was judged by acclaimed realist artist Igor Koutsenko.

Koutsenko was born along the Crimean Peninsula along the Black Sea and displayed extreme artistic talent as a young child and qualified for adult art school where he later trained at Penza School of Art. M Carlen was awarded second place in the watercolor category for the January monthly members show at the San Dieguito Art Guild's "Off Track Gallery" located in Encinitas, CA. The monthly show was judged by mixed media artist and member of the Fallbrook Art Association - Karen Langer-Baker.

This is the first award M Carlen has received after recently becoming a guilded artist in the North San Diego County area.

M Carlen is a Southern California native born and raised in Pasadena, Calif. having developed her passion for art from her paternal grandmother as a young child. M continues to develop her painting skills and expanding her repertoire of works.
